Actually I've read that the USN had no idea how powerful Yamato was until well after the war. Either they didn't care or the IJN did their job as far as keeping secrets goes. Weren't Iowa's main gun's specifically designed to pierce Yamato's armor back when they still thought battleships would be key to naval warfare? Yikes, there's going to be at least futanari doujin because of that, isn't there?
