PlaneGirls was a thing on Pixiv several years before KanColle.
I was kind of surprised it didn't take flight (pun intended) before Kantai Collection.
Or who knows. Maybe Shipgirls were already all the rage there, but I wouldn't recognize them over ordinary mecha armaments, unless their appearances would be limited to that of Mami 19 from Cho Aniki. A grossly neglected shipgirl here.

According to the commentary, this is original design for a War Thunder doujin (seriously) name literally translate to "War Princess Thunder"
