Nope, in the previous pic who hold the rainbow is Laffey (balance type) maybe the illustrator is confusing when drawing with the previous strip.

This is B-3 of the Event Map (the background), currently happening in JP (already ended in CN). I have been using this tactic before I can auto. So the general idea of this is:

1) Akagi and Kaga move vertically in a wave-form, so they will both intersect at the center.
2) When both of them intersect at the center, you can rush in and fire point blank torpedo at them (previous picture).
3) Since they're so close together, most of the torpedo, which usually spreads, will almost all hit.
4) TASTE THE RAINBOW!
