Actually~ Supercell wrote that song after Huke drew the character, and performed it with Miku due to the visual similarity between Miku and Black Rock Shooter.

In the movie, the rounds were just blue plasmoids/energy bursts. In the series, you can actually see they're rocks (albeit supernaturally charged).

Her gun does shoot rocks, but they're essentially glowing hot chunks of blue rock, which may or may not turn black when they cool off. She can fire about twenty rocks per second, or so I have read.

No, not rocks. Bullets, like most other guns (only better). And then it's got it super-laser mode... >_< (Not quite Zero Laser, but still awesome!)
