She's a goddess that actually cares for her followers. In the final episodes of the second season, Aqua show some nerve equivalent of a 'mama bear' usually has when her 'holy city' was in danger.

It's a meme that started when Hero got into Smash. Although it's applied to pretty much every DLC character except for Joker at this point.

The basic use is to throw it out at someone who is irrationally angry at a character being added to Smash. It's SORT of an "okay boomer" style meme. Only way more effective since you're responding to blind hatred by calling it out as blind hatred.

So consider this clarification for all; people that are disappointed about Byleth getting into Smash aren't the targets here. It's the ones literally so toxic that there's no excuse for the behavior. I'm talking if you're going off and blatantly insulting Sakurai, Nintendo, and anyone that happens to enjoy Fire Emblem.
Other examples include hoes mad going "Fire Emblem fans are like K-Pop stans".

Chances are pretty high that the average person is not being targeted with these memes. But now these people are having their own meme turned against them and they can't stand it.

How about the fact that Fire Emblem is an immensely popular series in Japan, and a lot of people over there actually wanted Byleth in Smash?

This may come as a shock, but you don't make 16 games (plus for additional spinoffs for 20 total) without being a popular franchise. Awakening and Fates caused the series to burst further in popularity, to a degree that it's known in the west like it is now.

You have six more fighters on the way. And if your argument is that it's "all going to be Fire Emblem", my only response is "I hope so".

Because we all know it's not going to be. You just want to be hyperbolic and hate that an optional character was added to your roster with fictional slot limits.

I get being disappointed. But the extreme amounts of salt on display is why we have attitudes like this, and "hoes mad" being spammed ad infinitum.

Especially if you're going to defend Pokemon after Sword and Shield's ridiculous development, final product, and DLC on top of it all, I don't think you have much room to criticize Smash or Fire Emblem for "cashing in".

I think people are forgetting that the only reason we have so many FE characters atm is because Ultimates whole gimmick is that "everyone is here" if that wasn't the case we'd probably only have Marth, Ike and Robin (maybe Chrom).
Personally I don't care who gets in, Sakurai has already delivered so much in terms of the roster I don't mind one "dud" (even though I like Three Houses and the fact they have a unique fighting style, which is a fact people ignore with their "muh anime sword person!" Arugment).

We're getting 6 new characters anyway, can we just look forward to that instead of getting mad that this one character is in?

My problem with this entire situation is both sides are irritating, one side defending Byleth is just spamming “hOes mAd” to people who are upset by Byleth being into Smash and the other side is complaining how there are too many FE reps but when it comes to how many Mario and Pokemon reps there are, they don’t even bat an eye

I think the problem I have - and this is an entirely personal problem, I'll admit - is that I have this perception that the number of representatives a series has in Smash is supposed to be an indicator of how important that series is as a representation of Nintendo and its history, which leads me to deliberate about how many representatives a series "deserves", and use language like "sitting at the same table as Pokemon". Single character "guest" appearances can come from basically anywhere (though ones that seem to have absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo, like Joker, still give me pause), but if you're going to have more than one (non-echo) representative, you should be a genuinely important part of Nintendo's history (not necessarily first-party - I'd say Sonic and Mega Man would make the cut for a second rep). On the scale of "how important is this series as Nintendo iconography", I would personally rank Fire Emblem as higher than Star Fox, but lower than Kirby - absolutely deserving of 3-4 representatives, but eight? (I guess 6, if we discount echo fighters, but that's still more than Zelda. Zelda!)

I understand that the reality is that Fire Emblem churns out a new protagonist with each game and so needs new representation to ~~promote the game~~ make sure that Fire Emblem doesn't end up in a situation where the only characters it has in Smash are ones that haven't actually been relevant in any of the franchise's own games released in the past decade, and with Ultimate's implicit promise that any character who appeared in Smash for any reason is here to stay, there's no option to just prune the characters who've fallen out of relevance to make room for new blood, so it's just naturally going to accumulate fighters over time, how much it "deserves" to have be damned.

Here's why you're wrong.

The only clones are Roy, Lucina and Chrom, 2 of those which are 'Marth' and 1 of those which is more a Brawl-clone in Chrom.

We have 8 characters with Byleth, 3 are clones, 1 barely qualifies due to being so different from Marth.

Roy is more like Luigi, Falco, and Ganondorf i.e. a former clone who majorly diverged into his own character. Chrom interestingly is kind of like a Melee clone compared to the other Echo Fighters (that aren't named Ken).

Actually, Fire Emblem is notable for being a franchise to break out from being an obscure B-List franchise into an actual cash-cow A-list franchise following Awakening and Fates (after which Fire Emblem became Nintendo's entry into the gacha world and their break into mobile gaming when their flagship series didn't). The Fire Emblem money train didn't fade away after Awakening and Fates either when it's first completely new main title became even more of a success (Three Houses).

Also, Fire Emblem churns out at least one eligible Smash character per game who can claim the same amount of importance as a main character compared to other main characters from the same series (because Fire Emblem does not have a core cast of characters for the entire series unlike Mario and Zelda) which is a rate higher than most Nintendo franchises unless that name is Pokémon.
