Probably an attempt to simulate depth, like her left foot is behind her right foot. Doesn't seem to be done right.

My guess is he drew this image with the intention of the white background used in the index view, since the adjutant view doesn't let you see their feet.
I'll just leave this here for the inquisitive. Its basically the raw translation for her MOD3 stories. Its wholesome and pretty much makes their mother and daughter relationship canon.
