I personally favor the idea of Valkyrie (P&D) and Sonia (P&D) being umbrella tags, with more specific tags for each color.

Well I've stated my stance on the naming, just have to have the input of others decide on direction for this.

Sidenote: Mystic Knights are not common enemies like goblins, or at least they weren't when I started the game and would only appear in normal dungeons during special events. I think they still only normally appear in what used to be descend and special dungeons. Their higher tiers have been used though as various bosses and sub-bosses in the normal and technical dungeons, while Valkyries have only appeared as a sub-boss or boss in special dungeons. Although I don't recall if any high tier Valkyrie actually have appeared as a boss, currently only aware of the second tier "Great Valkyrie" form appearing.

As for Valkyrie and Sonia, I don't believe I separated them when I first generated the subtypes due to their visual differences. Although looking over the tags (you did make it a little bit difficult to check misuse, but thanks for your gardening of the tags), the one that would suffer "generic" tagging is Valkyrie, as all variants appear to normally get tagged with the Valkyrie tag. On the other hand the Sonia tag hasn't really suffered from that, although it also has received fewer images. Green Sonia images, outside of the first image, have not been tagged Sonia (so roughly a year without being tagged Sonia). Blue Sonia has most of its images uploaded around a year ago, but the last few images (so spanning back to 6 months) have not been tagged Sonia either. Going by that, I guess it would at least be wise to convert the Valkyrie tag into a catchall and introduce a subtype tag for the light/white type.

I'd personally have no issues lumping all the valkyries together into a catchall tag, but I think it's better to have it specifically for the white standard variant as that is what the base name is generally used to refer to. Sort of similarly to how Sonia (p&d) is used for the more common Red Sonia.

For me, because Valkyrie is a descend boss I imagine her as a non-generic character, as opposed to the more common enemies like the Mystic Knights or the Goblins.

An issue with keeping Valkyrie (P&D) for only one character is that it might be too generic of a tag. Uploaders may not see how the tag is used or read the wiki entry and posts become incorrectly tagged. I think Sonia (P&D) suffers from this as well.

See the thing is, is that you're thinking of the valkyries as individuals. I actually do not believe their lower tiered forms are necessarily representations of the named higher tiered ones. The reason the highest tier ones have names is because you go from having a low level nameless valkyrie of which there are many to having a hero valkyrie of which there is only one of. The same is true with the Mystic Knights, none of them have a name until their higher evolved forms, which came later. It isn't hard to imagine there being many valkyrie aligned to the different colors, as there are likely many knights aligned to the various colors.

I'd personally have no issues lumping all the valkyries together into a catchall tag, but I think it's better to have it specifically for the white standard variant as that is what the base name is generally used to refer to. While I definitely see your point about wanting to keep the tag generic, I relate the naming in their (currently) final forms to be like a reveal. Before they were nameless and now they aren't. It's unusual GungHo didn't give them names when they added the other four Valks.

I'm not really in support of this, because of the fact that those evolutions and names came much later on and it takes it from obvious on what the tag is to less obvious. 4 out of the 5 valkyrie (light valkyrie) forms do not use the Rose name, and 2 out of the 3 for the newer other color versions do not use those names. I'd rather have a generic name that is applicable to all the forms of that specific variant, than a specific name that is used specifically for only one of their forms.

I consider the named versions as a specific form, and it is also the form at which all 5 valkyries truly differentiate themselves from each other by having different armors, weapons, hairstyles, and even wings from each other (they even all for the first time have unique leader skills). Prior to the named version though there isn't much difference between them outside of color, and at the Princess Valkyrie form (3rd form for white and 1st for other colors) the only difference between them is indeed only color.

As for the argument on alternate versions, it should be pointed out that the summer festival Valkyrie Claire is directly based on the Valkyrie Claire form, so it's obvious that of course it'd carry over the name. Only the Valkyrie Claire form has a scythe, which the summer festival version also has.

All five Valkyries have names after gaining their second ultimate evolved forms. The names also carryover to alternate versions of the character such as the summer festival version of Claire.
