While they tend to look the same, if it had a long tail it'd be a baku and if it had a short tail it'd be a tapir, right? Though I guess if the tail isn't actually visible it'd be hard to tell, we could probably use the context of the picture to tell the difference.</p><p>For example, <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2413320">post #2413320</a> would obviously be a tapir while <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2117118">post #2117118</a> is obviously a baku.</p> Blue_Stuff /users/438160 tag:danbooru.me,2005:ForumPost/117928 2016-08-06T13:23:16-04:00 2016-08-06T13:25:38-04:00 @iridescent_slime: > Hoobajoob said: > > Could we call it a baku... <blockquote> <p>Hoobajoob said:</p> <p>Could we call it a <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist dtext-tag-does-not-exist" href="/wiki_pages/baku_tail" title="This wiki page does not have a tag">baku tail</a> instead?</p> <p>Calling it a <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/cow_tail">cow tail</a> when she's quite clearly not a cow would be like calling <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-4" href="/wiki_pages/yakumo_ran">Yakumo Ran</a>'s ears <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/dog_ears">dog ears</a> just because foxes are canines.</p> </blockquote><p>Even if you rename the tag, the problem in <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-forum-post-id-link" href="/forum_posts/117007">forum #117007</a> remains. I'm of the opinion that tails and animal ears should only get the generic <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/tail">tail</a> or <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/animal_ears">animal ears</a> tag unless they unmistakably belong to a particular species. Tails like in <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2055739">post #2055739</a> and <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2288831">post #2288831</a> look nothing at all like any specific animal's tail; if anything, they look like a <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/demon_tail">demon tail</a>. Some of the confusion might have occurred because Baku referred to two different things. For <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-4" href="/wiki_pages/doremy_sweet">Doremy Sweet</a>, Baku is not referring to a <strong>zoological tapir</strong>, but the <strong>traditional dream-devouring creature</strong>. It seems that there is even some confusion amongst fan artists, since most of the <a class="dtext-link dtext-post-search-link" href="/posts?tags=Doremy%20Sweet%20%28baku%29">Doremy Sweet (baku)</a> depictions show a tapir with a long cow-like tail whereas tapirs only have short stubby tails.</p><p>+1 Therefore, I'm in favor of moving all references with Doremy Sweet &amp; tapir tail to cow tail.</p><p>Edit:</p><p>This should be done via a mass-update and not an alias, since if an actual tapir tail is being depicted, we don't want it automatically tagged with cow tail.</p> BrokenEagle98 /users/23799 tag:danbooru.me,2005:ForumPost/117908 2016-08-06T03:41:42-04:00 2016-08-06T03:41:42-04:00 @Blue_Stuff: I've noticed that while the tag tapir_tail is... <p>I've noticed that while the tag <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/tapir_tail">tapir_tail</a> is used almost exclusively for <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-4" href="/wiki_pages/doremy_sweet">Doremy_Sweet</a>'s tail, her tail isn't a tapir tail. Tapir tails are short and stubby, while Doremy's definitely isn't.</p><p>Looking up what a Baku is, all my search results described it as having an ox tail. Would it be alright to manually change all of the posts tagged with tapir tail to <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/cow_tail">cow_tail</a>? I'm fairly sure an ox and a cow are the same anyways.</p> Blue_Stuff /users/438160
