I think I'll start going through some of them in the next couple of days. I'll start with ears -> ear focus, so anyone else feel free to handle another one in the meanwhile.

I think handling them manually and gradually moving the posts to the new tags while at the same time simply detagging those who don't fit is a better approach than a mass update or an alias, because otherwise we'd simply end up having the noise move from one tag to the other. It'll also work better in the long term because it's easier to have a saved search with all of these generic tag and monitor it every once in a while than have clueless users dump irrelevant posts into the new tags because of autocompletion.

Before I start going through them however I'd like an admin's opinion on it, since it's a pretty serious change given the size of some of these tags.

@Hillside_Moose @NWF_Renim @Type-kun opinions? Images that focus on eyebrows are basically non-existant. I got rid of about a fifth of that tag's uses after the implications were removed, incidentally, although there were probably twice as many left that would have wanted removal. With the implications gone and various other tag gardening in the time since then I do think there are more images with the tag that want to keep it than those that don't by this point, so I'd rather have it transitioned over and then gardened to size rather than nuked and rebuilt from scratch.

Perhaps prominent_x would be better for some of the others than x_focus.

The only problem is that it puts the body part at the end, so people don't find it when searching. x_prominent would work, I suppose.
user_441999 /users/441999 tag:danbooru.me,2005:ForumPost/142029 2018-01-15T06:01:17-05:00 2018-01-15T06:01:17-05:00 @user_525419: The "focus" part is good.
