[REJECTED] Tag implication: holding_hammer -> hammer

What do we want to do about warhammers? That tag doesn't implicate hammer but several of the holding hammer tags are used to refer to warhammers, which doesn't currently have its own holding tag.

Didn't we discuss in a prior topic? But that wasn't about warhammers but about mallets.

The tag hammer seems to have a sizeable number of warhammers (e.g. post #3002599) and mallets (e.g. post #2985412).

This actually makes sense. Mallets and warhammers are certain kinds of hammers.

I suggest creating claw_hammer for this common kind of hammer (e.g. post #3025623).

Then, I suggest creating these implications:

Do we want things like post #2265176 and post #543439 to be tagged with hammer? Then again there doesnt seem to be that many posts that would get weirdly tagged and it would make tagging mallet and warhammer easier.

A cautious +1 from me.

I don't mind tagging these posts with hammer if it's OK with everyone. Then again, we might want to create a new tag (maybe percussion_mallet) for these posts, which would imply mallet.

which would imply mallet.

The entire point of having a separate tag would be to avoid it implying hammer though.

I suggest we leave percussion mallet behind since mallet_(instrument) is populated.

Im finding a lot of mallets that should be tagged warhammer can something be both? Also shouldnt it be spelled "war hammer"?

For what it's worth, I'm the one who started populating mallet_(instrument) as per this discussion.

Could you mention any examples of posts tagged mallet that should be tagged warhammer?

I do agree with you what "war hammer" seems correct. That's the spelling that Wikipedia uses: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_hammer

I discovered that there's already a tag war_hammer for a specific magic weapon found in Nanoha. It has only 5 posts. Maybe it could be renamed to war_hammer_(nanoha). Then our current warhammer could be moved to war_hammer.

Oddly enough, the Nanoha thing is a character tag. I suppose it should be a general tag, shouldn't it?

Disclaimer: I don't watch Nanoha, I'm not familiar with this anime.

Sure. In descending order of warhammernes: post #1475793 post #848649 post #1338239 post #120065 and post #2836979.

OK, that's tough. Maybe in fact the same object can be a war hammer and a mallet.

Feel free to correct me or disagree, but in my mind the word "mallet" is more about the shape of the object, and the word "war hammer" is more about the object as a realistic deadly weapon.

warhammer even implies weapon, which sounds good to me.

So I would say that King DeDeDe, Amy (Sonic) and Ramona Flowers really use "mallets" because of the objects' shape, but not "warhammers" because they look like silly colorful oversized toys rather than actual weapons. Just my two cents.
