At any rate the policy is in place and listed officially and all that so it doesn't need to be argued more at this point.

There is always a gray area as to how it should be handled, but report the more egregious offenses to me or a mod and we'll try to take care of it. That's all.

I also don't see any reason why a malicious racist statement is worse than a "funny" one. They're both racist.

In my opinion, even "humorous" comments involving race should be ban-worthy. They attract even more racism.

This should be feasible from a database perspective, at least for items for which you're already storing the edit history. Also, it would be a very handy tool to counter vandalism.

I would also like to have some tools for quickly repairing damage. You can "undo" tag changes, but changes to rating, parent post, or source have to be fixed one-by-one. I had to go through and remove source:ebaumsworld.com from about 50 pictures last night.

Albert, it's much too easy for people to come back after being banned. Especially people who for some reason think they're cool because they can mess with some tags, or think that they're somehow going to be able to destroy the site. It's laughable, but even small annoyances are unnecessary annoyances.

So while this is only rarely an issue, and only with a few really immature kids who even think to do such things, it's enough of an issue to deserve further attention.

Most of the racist, sexist, or otherwise unsavory comments I see are breaking the rule of "no silly one-liners" anyway. They also never have any value. They aren't ever funny, nor are they constructive in anyway.

The vast majority of people complaining about disciplinary actions for things that aren't against the rules are breaking plenty of other rules that they can be banned for.

Besides, use some common sense people. This isn't 4chan.

From my experience, it just slips out. It's like when you're making a joke or comment you just say it with out thinking and most people won't really reread their comment before they post. It's usually what happens if something is not in the rules and when you're being stupid.

I don't care if you're being ironically racist. It's most egregious against blacks but malicious racist statements about any ethnicity are not to be tolerated.
