Kaibutsu Oujo character name spoiler discussion.

Posted under General

The female lead of kaibutsu_oujo is tagged here as lilianne, while in the show (the 3/4 of which I've seen of it) she is never referred to as anything but "Hime".

This would imply that lilianne is a spoiler.

Looking that the hime tag, I note that it is, in fact, a complete disaster.

I suggest clearing out the hime tag, giving any characters there with the actual name "Hime" a qualifier, and then retagging all the lilianne images to hime, with a note in the wiki that it should refer to the character from kaibutsu_oujo and not just a "princess"

Thoughts?

First off I'm just going to warn you that I haven't seen or read this so if this is completely wrong that's fine.

From what I can find she just doesn't like people to use her name, I don't know if it would qualify as a spoiler in this case. It's not like her identity is a secret and is at a later point revealed, changing the whole story or whatever. If this is actually the case, disregard.

Well, I've watched 3 out of 4 discs, and its never been mentioned.

I didn't even know her name wasn't really "Hime" until I started looking up Kaibutsu Oujo images here. Its sorta like the situation with tianzi from Geass, though its entirely possible the last disc will make a big deal out of her name, but if it does, then it probably SHOULD be considered a spoiler.

For all intents and purposes, her name is "Hime" not "Lilianne"

Eh, it's not really the same as tianzi as her real name was only revealed after the fact in Newtype. I do know that they refer to her as lilianne in one of the mediums but I can't say where or when.

edit: Confirmed, it's never used in the anime but probably somewhere early on in the manga.

It's revealed in volume 3 of the manga, though still goes by Hime as far as I recall. As noted earlier she doesn't care for that name. In volume 5 of the manga it's revealed that her brother Severin had a pet cat that had the same name. He had killed it though through severe mistreatment. The US released volume's wording suggests that he named her after the cat..

Not sure how it is worded in the original Japanese, but in the US release of volume 1 it is worded that she introduces her name as Hime.

This strikes me as being very similar to the Mid-Boss situation.

Also I finished the show after making this thread, and her name was revealed in like, the last episode.

It makes sense to just stick with Hime in this case.

But hime really is currently being used for a wide variety of different and unrelated characters, making it a useless tag. At the very least, we need to specify it to hime (show) or something similar.

Correct, qualifiers. hime_(kaibutsu_oujo) would be the actual tag. I was just addressing the hime vs lilianne issue.

Since lilianne probably won't be used for anything else I'll just alias it.
