I think the issue is that sheath could, regardless of it does currently, include a blunt or specialty melee weapon. In that case, I think they should remain separate.
Related question: what do you use to hold nunchuku?
I believe they are typically just carried by hand in the few instances you could expect to see one used today. Back in the day of non-apocryphal ninja, nunchuku were just threshers used as weapons that likewise had no formal carry-case.
If a container needs to be defined though, Google would suggest "bag" > "case" > "sheath"/"scabbard" (synonymous) > "holster".
Done the scabbard -> sheath implication but the sheath wiki will need to be cleaned up, since it basically says it's a scabbard.
Did sheathed/unsheathed too.
But I do agree this will likely end up one of those situations where 98% of the umbrella tag is the child tag... ah well.
