I assume it has to do with the repeated bugs with aliases not moving the tag's category (which are hopefully fixed now).

Why? They have already been aliased to other tags. And those tags are implicated, so these implications are duplicates.

The implication from (young) is redundant.

Also, obsolete PC-98 character tags (alice_margatroid_(young), kazami_yuuka_(classic), hakurei_reimu_(classic), kirisame_marisa_(classic)) are still implicated to their main character tags. I think those old implications can be removed now.

Touhou is an enormous enough tag to warrant a division like this. But I'll need to leave it to the Touhou fans to work out how to best define it.

As for _(pc-98) vs _(classic), I prefer the former since this is a very specific tag anyway.

I never actually said it but I'll say it now, I'm for the tag. If i wanted to only look for the cast of the PC-98 era, it wouldn't be practical for me to try and tag all the classics and character tags in my search bar. Not to mentoin with the frequency of fanarts for the PC-98 cast in the first place, I may miss one. Ofcourse there is also tag limits as well,even with a priviledged account.

Someone new coming into Touhou could search for all content from the past era nice and easily without worrying about missing any of the characters.

Ofcourse I do realize we'll have to go back and re-tag the old images. Ofcourse some tag linking would help. Such as Shink and Mima automatically getting a PC-98 tag.

Due to the sheer amount of Touhou content, this can have both positive and negative benefits. For one thing, getting it worked into Touhou content uploaders' process of tagging newly uploaded images will take a while. It would also require an initial iteration over all content that is deemed as classic Touhou.

However, it would make searching for particular content that much easier...but to what extent? Is there a relatively high frequency of classic Touhou content uploaded still? I think gathering data on classic Touhou content upload frequency over time, as well as getting more feedback from members, will help make this decision easier. I don't upload to nor search for Touhou content on Danbooru (gasp!) so I'm not even close to being an expert on the subject.

If working it into the system can be easily managed, I personally don't see why this isn't a good idea.
