The Mark IV Tank was the fourth iteration of the British heavy tank series during World War I. It featured major improvements over it's predecessors, particularly in terms of armor, fuel tank arrangement and ease of transportation. It retained the rhomboidal shape and guns mounted in sponsons on either side of the vehicle, but dropped the external steering wheels.
The Mark IV Tank was the most produced British tank of the First World War. It first saw action in June 1917 during the Battle of Messines, and participated in the first tank versus tank combat against German A7Vs at the Second Battle of Villers-Bretonneux.
