It's actually a Touhou thing. Chinese and Japanese for the word vampire has a character that is the same as the word for oni (鬼), so it's like a play on words that made vampires in the series have such a weakness.

Vampires are weak to beans in Touhou, and all those gaoo's torturing with beans are vampires or oni. I don't see the problem.
