Perhaps its just me but Akagi looks like a older version of Fubuki. In a sense of Body and overall looks, not actual ship as those are basicaly two entirely diffirent classes (Do you rank ships in classes? I realy don't know ...)

Which, from a certain point of view, is a rather comical Ship to Ship Combat. The more popular artists are drawing both Touhou and Kancolle art. A lot of artists drawing Kancolle got their start drawing Touhou fanart and switch back and forth between the two depending on how much new material comes out. Kancolle as of current is bringing out new content quicker than Touhou, however Touhou has a very large and strong fanbase. I'd say it's just a matter of preference now than any actual rivalry.

The bickering sides are very likely the very loud and outspoken minority. Probably not even content creators.

Yes and no. It's entirely accurate... for what it is: a comparison of the rate of images posted on this one specific site under two broad tags. A better way to compare would be to look at just the rate of Touhou post over the exact time period but that's hard to do since results are capped at 2000 pages and both exceed that cap.

Obviously though rate of post on this one specific site does not equal popularity. It just notes a trend from the limited data set.

Well...

In 10 years of there being a Danbooru the Touhou tag has gotten 455k post at this point, or 45.5k post a year. In two years of Kancolle there have been 115k post at this point, or 57.5k post a year. So yes, it's outgrowing Touhou. Judging by the flood of images daily (try blacklisting it sometime and checking Posts and see how many are being hidden) that doesn't look to be changing any time soon.

I honestly don't think it will keep up for as long (or hard) as touhou. I think accessability is a big crux with kancolle, that is, actually getting access to and playing the game seems somewhat difficult. At least compared to touhou anyways.

I feel like even if something would happen to zun, touhou would still live on. Heck, maybe someone would take zun's identity and continue to make it. That's kind of creepy and extreme but so is the amount of attention touhou has in general, too.

KanColle is experiencing some of kind of Golden Age (or a hype) for at least I saw that many Touhou artist etc. are also drawing KanColle as well.
