</blockquote><p>Unfortunately, that leads to many recent Pokemon based on aquatic animals to not be Water type because they have to keep the Water type population down. </p><p>Which is even sadder when so many Water types you see in the last 2 gens are just placeholders replacements for older gen Pokemons(Basculin, Timpole family), gimmick Pokemons who are just there because they have alternate-typed counterparts(Simipour family), which can also overlaps as being plain useless(Alomomola) along with older gens Waters who are just plain forgettable and just ended up taking up Dex space for nothing(Luvdisc, Corsola, Qwilfish, Fineon).</p>
