uh from what i heard is that ship girls are just girls born with the spirit of the ship and the cost to build them in lsc and normal crafting is building the armaments for them not building them the girls just show up after building her gear

Because believe it or not, they are still girls. In other words, they took the form of humans. It may not serve any purpose (if they are creatures born out of a super natural phenomenon), but because they are modeled after humans, it wouldn't be strange if they do possess such thing as navels.

I´ve been asking myself that for quite a while. Even in Girls Frontline, where its canon that the girls are androids build in a factory, they still have belly buttons as if thats required to be humanoid.
