Looking back, I think there's a different interpretation, here, and that's that Kasen is a dojikko.

Second appeal: "OK, I'm going to be careful and gentle this time. Careful and gentle. Careful an -- *CRACK!* DAMNIT!"
Third appeal: "*CRACK!!* Oh Suwako, I'm really fucking this u-- *CRACK!* SHIT! S-Stop looking! Am I just some terrible person destined to break anything near to m- *CRACK!* FUUUUU-"
