They are the plucky side characters who end up saving the day in the end with no one (including themselves) realizing who it is (they didn't even know they did something, tbey were just doing their usuall antics)

Or conversely, they are kidnapped and tortured one by one to death in front of each other while online just to make the "good" guys fight harder since their (the "good" guys) constant failure means the game isn't fun anymore for the "bad" guys.
