Looks like a TSF to me; specifically a cross between a Type-94 Shiranui and an F15-J Kagerou, and yes they are named after WWII IJN DDs. As an aside, in the Muv-Luv universe Yamato is still flagship of the IJN and Mogami is still in service as a shore bombardment vessel.

Stylistically, it looked to me more like Gad Guard. (I'd link to Danbooru's images, but we don't have any images of the Gads, our collection's basically entirely one of the girl pilots getting raped...)
