</blockquote><p>It's not so much that they WANT her to die, more that it's the likely result.</p><p>I think everyone knows that the intention of the picture is erotic but stuck in an elevator door doesn't quite immediately make people think "sexy times" as much as, say, the run-of-the-mill hole in the wall would. </p>

<p>I saw the surveillance videos from a Chinese school building a boy was killed by a faulty elevator. He was not cut in half as horror movies would have you believe but instead he was crushed down and held in an awful position for over 3 minutes before help arrived at which point constricted blood flow throughout his body and asphyxiation had already done him in.</p>

<p>Normally the door stops and opens again if there's something in the way. That's why it's possible to stop the door from closing with your hand, without using any force. And the elevator most certainly wouldn't start moving if the door won't close properly. I reckon it's far more common a problem the door seems to be closed but the elevator still refuses to move than the elevator moving without the door closing.</p><p>But yeah, I have also seen the rare news. Those must have involded criminally incompetent or negligent maintenance/installation.</p>
