Sun/Moon series realy put its references up to eleven and beyond. Basicaly from boring repetetive story about 10 yo kiddo doing the same stuff over and over again it became a pretty funny comedy/adventure anime with surprisingly good writing and very live animation (tho in expense of simplified character designs).
