Absolutely, since that's pretty much how their relationship works. The other character really only just helps you out.

That's 'cause they were always out-and-out rivals, not to mention that Green/Blue-boy stayed in the fight to the end. HGSS's rival wasn't so much against you as was just at ends with your activities, and RSE's "rival" role switched about halfway through. DPP down there, though, looks like a team-up more than a versus.
