The guy who was holing up in the convenience store and saying that the outside was fake is probably a real person, however. (Otherwise, why bother voting on his fate?) That said, it could just be a different "outside" that one can accidentally go to if one goes to the wrong exit, although it may also be the case that the whole apartment is slipping into a different dimension entirely. (It would also explain why Fennec isn't just grabbing Racoon and leaving when she understands how dangerous everything is - maybe it's impossible to leave this town once they've gotten too far inside, outside of visiting a wish granter?)

Unless he's looking for the wish granter ala STALKER, a likely possibility is that he had a relative that lived in the apartment. The few times he speaks, it sounds like he's seeking revenge against the apartment, and the Minmi news also had the amusing note about how there were more people going missing in this town than there were even people in the town to start with...

Just want to visit this to point out that it seems almost like he's trying to be a one-man Giant Otter Squad- his gear is fairly similar to theirs, and he certainly seems to make use of (a copy/ copies of) their map/s. I wonder if he's ever worked directly with them... and come to think of it, what exactly it is he hopes to find here.

We never did get to see what the Fake-san or the Kraken would do, but there isn't much reason to believe it would be good.

The elevator is weird, and even as we slowly learn more about it, it gets more and more strange. It connects to more apartments than any building can hold. It can be used to travel through time intentionally, but sometimes it gets mixed up and presents time-shifted versions (maybe alternate universes?). Someone has tried to hack it, with unknown success. Even when/where? the human EG was still alive, it still operated on the strange coordinate-like system than a sensible floor.

As much as I hope that the scared G.Otter is able to just leave, there's the chance that if they aren't able to (or if outside is somehow worse) being exiled is akin to a death sentence. Then, if she manages to survive on her own, she may have had a mental breakdown which leads her thinking along the lines of "They threw me out, they're the bad ones, they have to die" as revenge and become A!Otter.

In the case of several of these, it directly helps that she's not an explorer, she's just getting lost trying to go home. She doesn't explore the "flooded basement", immediately leaves the floor with the "open it" anomaly, and otherwise immediately leaves other dangerous floors (like the exploding head person floor) because she just immediately leaves floors that aren't the ones she is looking for, frequently escaping danger because they aren't aware of her in time to react. She also doesn't mess with the light switch because she has a flashlight (because Fennec insisted, probably), and she's not curious enough to explore or mess with the unknown to be in danger of tripping the unknown.

She only went to the cafeteria alone because she'd only ever go with Fennec, and Fennec knows it's dangerous and explicitly warned her not to go so she wouldn't go with her - Racoon is therefore immune to the cafeteria.

Racoon probably likewise would only want to see a movie with Fennec, so she's more safe from that than the Serval clones.

Racoon gets past the "don't look where I tell you not to look" by playing the maze because she's easily amused.

In a sense, Racoon always lives because most of the anomalies are built so that Racoon's natural reaction to just not mess with them or else because someone else has set up a bypass method that plays directly to the way someone simple like Racoon would react.

There is the anomaly that tries to create apartment rooms that look like they were lived in until recently, leaving behind bookshelves full of gibberish books that the otter team finds, so there may be something trying to clean up. There's also the possibility of something like the apartment lights image where the exploding head person seems it "resets" anytime someone enters. (Yet another anomaly where leaving immediately is the only right answer...)

It's also likely that those corpses just fell out of the elevator by walking forward without understanding the change in gravity, and the human stalkers are dumber than the Friends who know that bottle rats go first. If the giant otters are the first to not die immediately after connecting to that floor, then it makes sense that the creature wouldn't have reacted to anything and tried to change gravity before.

Considering that the elevator lady seems to have been from a time before the corruption of the apartment building, which also seems not that long before the Friends moved in, it may just be that all these anomalies are starting to move into the apartment (or starting to be connected to the apartment), rather than having existed here since time immemorial. Combined with the television report that Fennec was watching, it's possible this is a new anomaly that's spreading and has taken over the whole town at this point. (The world is doomed unless Racoon-san can save us all...)

What if A.Otter is trying to "save" them, as being the possible original, she knows that, the clones being the real anomalies, can't leave the apartment, and they are stuck in this neverending nightmare, so A.Otter just thinks it's better for them to die quickly, then being trapped here for eternity?
