It's what every country has in hand to make its own versions and to adapt it to the nationals palate. Like here, in Mexico, you can have soy sauce mixed with Serrano chilies and lemon in every Japanese restaurant and the American version of the taco is completely unknown to any Mexican that haven't been in the US.

Also, I've read that Japanese ketchup has a better flavor, so it can be used as a sauce.

This is more related to a Salisbury steak than to a hamburger patty. If I recall correctly, the Japanese style looks more like a hamburger patty than than the Salisbury steak original recipe.

This was in my recycle bin. If I remember correctly, I found it on some sketchy third party site while trying to find active pages by gro-ggy. The site in question had a fair collection of the artist's work, but I can't seem to find it anymore if it even still exists.
