From the initial translator: 宇宙になる ("uchuu ni naru", literally something like "to become a universe/outer space") was a brutal turn of phrase to translate. The context makes it pretty clear it's a metaphor, but as best as my research could tell, it's not one particularly common enough to have a widely established English translation or Japanese definition. It does seem to be something the artist likes to say, though. Taking the context into account, I eventually settled on the "wellspring of imagination" angle to be a fairly decent approximation of what he might have been trying to convey, but I'm putting this out there in case anyone who sees it happens to be more familiar with the turn of phrase than I am, in which case please feel free to jump in.
