Except maybe not since AL has had paper ships for most factions for a long time. I think it's more like they wanted to ensure all the IJN nerds are catered to first. Even for the DEs there may be potential players who literally have the wreck of said ship in their backyard.

every big event more or less will have a potato boat I even posted on the KC wiki that she will be the potato boat of the event when her data was data mined (no picture yet as she wasnt fully implemented yet) I wonder if I got downvoted to heck but what ever

I think the reason could be something like 'no English' and 'too heavily RNG dependant'

Remember AL has English version and you can actually control your ships ('though auto option existed as well)

But it's just my assumption, I could be wrong
