Lawson, Family Mart, Seven and a few others are chains of "conbinis", convenience stores.

In Japan, they are quite essential to modern life. I mean it.

You can go to the store for the essentials, like food, phone chargers, magazines, umbrellas and sweets.
But also, they always have a ATM machine, so it's a stop when you need to retrieve cash and you can pay bills and billets there, directly with the attendant.
The stores also receive packages for clients, since lots of people live alone and have no one to receive their packages at home.
You can buy train and bus tickets there for long travels too.

And they tend to be open 24 hours or at least close to it.

So, due to their relevance in modern life in Japan, they are often scenarios for many plots in manga and drama, too.

It was a part of the Kancolle cooperative advertisement, so artists might be referencing that.

No objection, but in Britain we have any number of supermarket chains, but none have a particular place in our hearts.

I mean, didn't we have a game were "rainbow pudding" was a rare drop from an enemy?
We have lots of JRPGs where enemies drop food ready to be consumed.

Flan isn't that hard to make even at cottage level, though I guess it's rather uncommon to hear about it until the 20th century.

Poor guy probably just got back from patrol and wanted some sugar in his system before he heads home.

Maybe he just came back from battle/adventure and wanted to taste his favorite treat, made by the owners of that tavern since they love and know their costumers and their tastes.

He's tired but delighted to have his favorite dessert that remembers home, until some lewd and perverted elves showed up.

^yeah, but on the pixiv page there's a tag that reads ただの肥満 "it's just fat". And the 授かった(conceived, blessed [with a baby]) left radical is greyed out do it says 受かった (passed [an examination, etc.]). The character 受 implies "receive, incur" but 受かる only means to pass an exam, etc., and I don't know enough about the context to guess at what it means here.

I like to imagine it that way though, stuff/preg, either or. 'cos this artist usually does preg stuff.
