^ Yup. Over ten years ago, when I first learned about Touhou, it took me time to learn the cast herd that was around even then. As you dive in though, you pick it up, and eventually knowing who's who and who's what becomes second nature.

This reminds me about me when I first saw this franchise, and did confuse some characters thinking that they were humans too (such as Hina, Alice, Yuuka, and many more... it’s difficult for me to know which species or type of thing a girl in this franchise really is, right?)

It's the same deal with Reisen with what you'd see. Since Touhou's so "freestyle" it's up to the artists to determine the fine details. That's one of the reasons it's so popular

... sometimes I’m wondering... if she’s actually happy with that life she got? She may now have new friends, but she only see them in her sleep, yet, in real life (outside world) things changes, people advance, yet, she doesn’t have a “real life flesh” friend she could play or talk or do Occultist things together... I just think that her club isn’t a real club, and even though she doesn’t need friends at all... I think she’s just wrong, and a little friend (regardless if it is a male or a female) couldn’t damage her, could it? (Depending of how much influence that friend is, since there’s a lot of people in the world with different personalities... I guess she and i may could be good friends...)

If you use your non-dominant hand, you won't have any muscle memory to fight against while you're learning. Makes it a lot easier.

Trick is - one stick is rigidly fixed, second is "operated".
Reference for hand bones
I've learned to hold 'em on middle finger due to "pen callouse" (Koishi holds chopsticks a bit differently, but principle is same)
1) Lay "lower" stick on distal("nail") phalanx and on metacarpal bone of point finger, then try to reach side of joint between distal and medial phalanxes with tip of your thumb.
2) Thumb and middle finger must be rigid, because they "anchoring" lower stick. If you must - bend fingers so you can hold stick with "root" of thumb firmly and comfortably enough.
3) Lay "upper" stick along point finger starting from tip and grip it between aforementioned joint and tip of thumb.
4) Adjust sticks in a way for only point finger is operating "upper" stick by bending and stick should touch each other with tips.

A bit of practice and you'll get a hang of it in no time (about 3-5 packs of chips for unconcious grip should be enough).

I frequently do the western version of that, eating chips with a fork. Human fingers are filthy and horrible, so I avoid touching food whenever possible.
