I'm not clever by any stretch but this whole thing is overblown to the fucking high heavens. The people that got pissed at Merry in the first place and then the artists that made all the stupid bait art. Everyone's a dumbass.

As for the question? I dunno, but I think drawing a dark-skinned character as an actual ape ignoring all good taste for the sake of "bait" might be more warranting of "genuine outrage".

Otherwise, maybe all the actual horrible things happening to people all over the world? I guess "genuine" was awkward phrasing on my part.

In any case, I'm the idiot for hoping that people can be reasonable and level headed when I should know better.

When I first saw her I was like "Oh, it's just giant Nami.", as much as I adore Oda's Art, there have been more "Nami clones" than would like. Then I realized how much she clearly took from Oda's early concept art of Nami
