Makes a lot more sense than the constant inconsistencies between the two. Seriously, there are so many holes in the theory that the 18+ stuff and this is the same world that it isn't even funny.

Sometimes the simplest answers that cause the fewest questions to be raised are the best. "Similar worlds, different relationships."

Maybe because there's no definite answer with which to refute it.

The best evidence one can give is that Kongou says she's going to give her first time to Admiral earlier, but then there's one of the porn series where he's already done Kongou. (But then, that could also just mean that these events are anachronic...)

Conversely, Sazanami routinely accuses Admiral of constantly cheating on her, and that's exactly what he's doing in those side-doujins.

It's entirely possible the author himself is probably writing these as a sort of multiple-choice backstory, where the freely available "Lightly Lewd" is the framing narrative that is definitely real, and then the ero books are maybe-real stories that are behind a paywall.

The reason to do this is because if you tell a story where half the story is behind a paywall, you do create an incentive to get people to buy your books, but it also means anyone who doesn't can't really follow your story, and you wind up having to either create stories where subsequent events basically spoil the plot twists in the pay stories, removing all mystery, or they're a bunch of unimportant junk that don't affect anything, removing all the reason to bother paying for them. This sort of "maybe it happened, maybe it didn't" setup is a way of trying to thread that needle.

Unrelated: I realized while writing the above statement that this series' title can be read as "Sexy." Slightly Erotic Kancolle -> SEKC -> Sek-C -> Sexy. I can't help but wonder if that was intentional. Yeah, the pun only works in English, but English is pretty common in Japan, and I've seen plenty of clever titles like that.
