@ChargeSol Hey there, uploading your own work is generally frowned upon as mentioned in the terms of service. Just letting you know so that you can understand why your work is being downvoted so fast.

Doubt the poor rating has anything to do with it being a self upload - I've seen some amazing self_uploads. It's just not good enough for danbooru standards.
Keep on drawing tho! With enough practice and hard work you'll get there, @ChargeSol.
Yeah this is a 'content aggregator' rather than a primary content production site, so the emphasis is on people finding (and sourcing) art that they like that fall within the guidelines of danbooru (animu and Japanese). Allowing self-uploading would be an awful idea since the site isn't equipped for that nor is it really what the site is about.

Someone being right about the rules and someone having 'good taste' are two separate metrics that are not related.

Not to mention that admins have gone on the record to say that the old uploads are kept up for archival purposes, even if they would be deleted by today standards. Pexota's example of a 9 year old upload doesn't hold water.
The rules exist because it's easier to have an absolute ban on self-uploads than having to put up with the people trying to lobby for their own art. (Especially the ol' "there's worse on Danbooru, so you can't delete mine until everything I think is worse than my own work is already deleted," because that never gets old. See also pexota, above.) EDIT: Also, when people upload their own art, they tend to want to police their own artist wiki pages, put in advertisements for their Patreon, get into arguments with commenters who criticize the work, and other obnoxious behavior.
There's basically no downside to having an absolute ban on self-uploads, as well, because anything worth having uploaded will simply be uploaded by someone else who isn't the artist, anyway.
As such, keeping self uploads banned has far more benefit than making it open to squabbling like every other goddamn thing just so moderators can be even more arbitrary (and called into question for it) than they already are.
Are self uploads actually outright banned now? I thought they were only (strongly) frowned upon, but they still get approved. @NWSiaCB
