Could someone please explain what the basis is for tagging something with waifu2x? Are there certain tell-tale image artifacts?
Because it seems to me that the tag is widely misused. In this case it seems more likely to be a patreon reward, since the artist advertises it on pixiv #52731284.
@Arcana55 Generally you can tell something is upscaled using waifu2x when lines become kind of fuzzy at places. In this case, I can tell you 100% that the image at this resolution is not the reward, as I have that month's set. When downscaling the full-size rewards to compare with this one at a 1:1 ratio, I found that this one has blurring of details in places reminiscent of waifu2x upscales.
Also, basically any unsourced image that is exactly 2x larger than the sample is highly likely to be an upscale from waifu2x (which upscales in 1.6 to 2x).
I don't think a lot of folks on this site are on the same page as to what makes a parent post. I know that's a bit of a problem with this artist especially, but I just assumed considering I've got word from different prolific uploaders and image approvers that larger image file sizes make a parent post, while others say larger image dimensions make a parent post.
My personal take on it is if Danbooru has to resize the image (so at the very least, highres), and the image resolutions are fairly similar, I lean towards the higher quality version as the parent. If the image resolutions are vastly different (Like, say, 1300px vs 4000px), I parent the larger resolution because it is more exploitable for other uses (Since at that size jpeg artifacts can be easily cleaned up with very minimal loss of fine detail).
@ampzz This is a post with smaller image size dimensions in comparison to their twitter uploads. Their artist description page on this site even states to be wary of samples posted on their pixiv page.
I'd say the sample thing doesn't apply here, since this is a PNG file while the twitter is a JPG.
