perhaps that is the plan get them to loosen him up to go to the table, kill him, than while the army is disorganized, wipe it off the land.

I'm quite certain the story isn't going to go that way. But if they did kill the first person in Renee's life to ever show her any kindness... they would regret it. Seriously, that's straight up Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds backstory.
