She's being classified as a light cruiser instead of a training cruiser. I'm not sure how could they could implement training cruisers into the gameplay.
I could see them giving her the Yuubari treatment. An odd stat block, but comes with an experience gain buff.

Pretty much what I would think as well. Just gives a nice EXP buff of some kind. Or if they really want to mix it up, has both a battlefield EXP buff and one for commission/ lecture EXP.
Yes, yes she is. During the last event literally everyone of her lines is about Enterprise. Even her secretary quest, which is supposed to be about the player bonding with the shipgirl, is more about Enterprise than anybody else. Zuikaku isn't even as bad as Essex, she actually talks about things besides the Grey Ghost from time to time.
Essex basically has "Ark Royal Syndrome", a nice design, ruined by a god awful obnoxious personality.

FWIW, Essex's secretary quest is supposed to be about her getting over her obsession with Enterprise. A big part of Essex's (and Zuikaku's) character is having an inferiority complex and seeing Enty as someone to emulate; unfortunately, by Microlayer Medley, she's become yet another character whose personality was consumed by memes.
On a different note, why did the artist make South Dakota as tall as Columbia, and drew her with a T-shirt on?

Story and playable versions being separate perhaps and the changes from a character quest rarely show itself in any events.

I dunno about why Columbia and SoDak are drawn with similar body heights here, but for the latter, I think it's because SoDak's default attire wouldn't go well with the nature of this comic, which in a sense: children friendly.
