Or like the Guy's Hospital Gazette (1914) said: War is months of boredom punctuated by moments of extreme terror.

I know it's a quote from a pencil-and-paper game, but what's the source of that meme? "It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."

I think it was Zork?

I remember it also being in a text adventure computer game.

It's from the video Infocom computer game Zork (1977). Officially, the quote starts "It is pitch black".

Why is this on Danbooru? And why do most of the characters have no expressions?

Create.swf, coded by Thefre with art assets by Walfas, is a program designed to create still images or Flash animations (yep, it's from a while ago) using "paper doll"-style elements. Characters have blank expressions by default, so the animator can modify them to suit the situation.

I personally have nothing against the art style being here on Danbooru, but to be fair, any examples of it that are here should probably be strictly those produced specifically by Walfas, the original artist. Otherwise, it's effectively like copy-pasting any other artist's characters into a new image or comic strip and claiming it as one's own. Elsewhere, so long as Walfas and Create.swf are properly attributed, it wouldn't be a big deal per se, as it's what Create.swf was designed for, but it does rather go against the purpose of an art curation site like Danbooru. (Writing and composition creativity does count for something, but not within the context of this site.)

oh, didn't know ;w;

Walfas was one of the things that made me get into Touhou and consequently this website.

While I'd be fine with stuff created by the artist themselves as a "honorable mention", images made with create.swf made by other people would most likely fall into the low-effort zone.
