First off, I want to apologize for neglecting the forum during the migration. I wanted to focus on getting all the critical bugs fixed.

I think we're now at the point where things have stabilized. The issues with uploads earlier were server/database related and were not caused by code bugs, and I've set up some monitoring tools to make sure I get alerted when start failing. I've been keeping a close eye on Github to keep track of issues. I also want to thank everyone who took the initiative to sign up and submit issues. You've all proven invaluable in me getting the site up and running smoothly.

That being said, I'm sure people still have some issues they want me to hear about and I'm now at a point where I can start listening. I just have one request: I want to focus on two things: (1) bugs and (2) inconsistencies with the old Danbooru. Please save any major enhancements or suggestions for the future. I'll get to those in due time.

Even if you don't have a Github account I encourage you to visit the issue list to see if there's anything that stands out, whether you strongly agree or disagree with an issue.

This is where you can request an image to be flagged or deleted. Here is a link to forum #57344 and the Terms of Service. There are just some rules, however:

1.) Having one image per post is greatly preferred. If you have enough images you want delet

2.) Give an explanation on what is wrong with the picture.

3.) This is NOT the place to ask why an image has been flagged. And whether or not an image is flagged or deleted is at the janitor or moderators discretion.

4.) Just because something violates the TOS doesn't mean its automatic grounds for deletion, although it needs to have good art and not be extreme or vulgar in its content.

5.) Do not request to flag or delete images that are in the moderation queue. If it does get approved, however, feel free to flag it.

6.) While you can go back and request images that are 2+ years or more, just keep in mind whether or not its worth flagging but it is fair game. The grandfather clause was overturned 2 years ago in forum #14967 so just because it was okay back then, it isn't now, and its okay to flag it.

7.) There are a lot of average images out there that may or may not be approved or that you wouldn't approve if you had the power to, but that isn't enough to flag them. If the image is offensively bad, violates the TOS, is approved by the uploader, or something especially heinous, then submit it.

This thread is primarily for replacing missing/corrupted images and image samples. Accidental uploads are also acceptable if the post is tagged for the desired image and still pending (or just freshly-uploaded if the queue was bypassed). Replacements can only be performed by moderators and admins.

Do not post here if your "full size" is:

...already on Danbooru as a separate post.
...still easily accessible through the post's source (mainly Twitter and Pixiv). Tag the post with replaceme instead.
...from a different site, unless the old source is a third-party site.
...visibly different (revision, etc...).
...ugoira and the old image is gif/mp4. Ugoiras are not considered necessarily better than their gif/mp4 counterparts.

Also, replacements do not work for id:<=2800000 (issue #4260).

If you have an image that is better than a post that is already legitimate (sourced from the artist's Twitter, Pixiv, Tumblr, etc...), just upload it separately and make it the parent.

List the post, the full size URL, and (if different) the final source for each proposed replacement, like so:

I would like condense the sticky threads into one readable chunk. Post in this topic if you have any other suggestions but I'd like to keep this to two screenfuls.

It's no great secret that I've been neglecting my duties as the primary admin of Danbooru. It's a combination of a stable community mostly taking care of itself, and me switching to a job that's been more demanding of my time and attention.

evazion has been a frequent collaborator both here and on Github and is someone I feel has a similar outlook to mine on the future of the site. Although I was skeptical initially, I agreed to hand him the keys for an interim period of about half a year to see how things would shake out. In that time period, I was satisfied with what I saw. Therefore I've decided to make the change permanent. Henceforth, evazion will be the primary admin of Danbooru and I'll be taking on a secondary role. He'll have much more time than I ever did to work on the site and my sincere hope is he'll continue to expand and grow the site in ways I could not.

Among other changes, the Github repo will now be hosted at https://github.com/danbooru/danbooru and I will probably migrate some of the side projects over as well.

I'll still be around, uploading slutty boats and lewd servants. If people have questions or concerns, feel free to ask them here or message me personally.

Reason: Both versions of the venus and mars tags are currently in use, it's a bit silly.

Currently the saturn tag can be used "for planets ... with visible rings around them" despite the fact that the planetary_ring tag has existed for over a decade. Ambiguous situations could occur where an artist draws, for instance, the planet earth with rings around it. In such a situation planetary_ring would be a more appropriate tag since saturn is not featured in the image. Once the implication is in place the saturn tag may simply be removed from images clearly not containing it.

Since it's revealed early on that Mai Natsume is a guy magically transformed into a girl, but is (almost?) never seen in his original form, does the character still warrant a genderswap tag?

I'm guessing precedent could be Ranma-chan, but in this case we definitely see Ranma in male form.

People have been asking for a thread where feedback on uploads could be obtained. So here it is. I have some reservations about how acrimonious this thread is likely to get, and if it turns into nothing more than a flame-fest, I will lock it.

Rules for those requesting feedback:
#1 - You are not guaranteed feedback. It is entirely voluntary to give it.
#2 - Danbooru may simply not be an appropriate place for your favorite art. If so, accept this and move on.
#3 - Try not to be too thin-skinned,and don't take things personally.

There's a number of artists who have asked to have their art taken down from Danbooru, but still produce official artwork for various products. As far as I know, official artwork is rarely, if ever, denied non-commercial redistribution.

Shouldn't there be a provision to allow users to see official art, even if the artist's banned?

The top example here is Parsley (paseri here in danbooru), who releases artwork for Girls Frontline and Kantai Collection yet explicitly promotional pictures are still blocked from viewed just from the transitive result of being properly artist-tagged.

Same deal as the other thread, deletion appeals should only be posted here so they don't fill up the main thread listing. Only appeal things you have really, really good reason to. Frivolous appeals will only make things harder for you.

EDIT: READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING (also available at about:deletion_appeals):

1) Read about:mod_queue. Then read it again.

2) Use the post #xxxxx syntax to link to your images, using the ID number of the image. You can find this in the URL, as well as under "Statistics" on the left side menu on each image page.

3) You "appeal" an image, we "approve" them. If it's good. Do not ask us to "appeal" your images. You've already done that by mentioning them in the thread.

4) Never appeal a post twice. Multiple mods saw it the first time you did. They also saw it when it was first uploaded. It got its fair shot.

5) Never appeal all your deleted posts at once. Only appeal the absolute best. If all or most of your uploads have been deleted, you need to lurk more and get a better idea of what is acceptable.

6) Never expect or demand feedback or justification. You may get some, if anyone feels like providing it or has anything specific to say. However there are too many appeals and too many other things for us to do for us to have time to critique every appeal.

7) You may appeal images you did not upload.

8) Don't be an ass. Seriously. You'll just get banned. No, being polite doesn't make your image any better, but being rude does you no favors either. And if it does get you banned, appeals will be your last concern.

The deletion appeal thread is a place to bring up images you think deserve a second chance. Nothing more, nothing less.

Reminder on how to use this thread (see also the first post).

Paraphrased from forum #25998, regarding deletion of unneeded posts from this thread: Extraneous chatter in this thread is likely to be deleted, and in the worst cases, negative records will be left for those who ignore the rules.

The lengthiest discussion that should generally be allowed about a single appeal is:

1) Uploader lists a few appeals (always)
2) A mod explains the reasons for deletion (occasionally)
3) User replies only if the deletion/explanation was based on factually incorrect information; i.e., it was not a nude filter and here's the link on the artist's website for proof. (rarely)

End. Anything beyond that is almost never going to be needed. Maybe an "oh you're right, undeleted" if applicable. Almost everything else can be removed.

For the most part, there's no need to go beyond step 1. Uploader appeals it, we look at it, and either it gets undeleted or it doesn't. Uploaders who pursue beyond this point are generally the ones uploading terrible images or not reading the rules anyway.

I also want janitors and mods to be more polite in response to appeals. Yes, an image may be shit. But we don't necessarily have to say that. I've often thought it, but I try to let the fact that I didn't approve their appeal speak for me. Some people only really get set off if they receive an unnecessarily blunt reply.

Unfortunately, some people won't "get it" unless you're really blunt, but hopefully they can be dealt with in ways that keep appeal thread clutter to a minimum.

Intro

Basically, anytime an alias is created or a wiki gets renamed, it potentially leaves wiki links that need to be updated to the new location. I've thought about this for a while, and unfortunately they can only be updated manually since we're dealing with language. Just doing a simple replacement could potentially leave an awkward or incorrect sentence in place.

I've started cleaning up these links, and I've already accumulated >2000 wiki edits after only going through a few years of aliases/renames (Wiki page report). This shows the amount of bad links that can build up over time

Instructions

The following lists the particulars of each Change type along with any caveats.

Alias

These are detected when tag aliases get approved.

Orig Name: Alias antecedent
New Name: Alias consequent

100% straight-up. There is no ambiguities with this one. Every wiki link or pool name in Pages to Update should replace the Orig Name with the New Name

Rename

These are detected when wiki pages get renamed.

Orig Name: Original wiki page name

The number in parentheses indicates how many posts are tagged with the original wiki name.

New Name: New wiki page name

The number in parentheses indicates how many posts are tagged with the new wiki name.

There are some ambiguities with this one. If the change is legitimate, then it should be treated like an alias. However, some users recycle wiki pages, where the original name has nothing to do with the new name. Additionally, some times the posts tagged with the Orig Name haven't been switched over to the New Name, which can be seen by the numbers in parentheses. These cases will be indicated, even if there are no Pages to Update.

Replace

These are detected when one tag gets completely replaced by another. This is done by keeping a daily log of all active tags, and comparing one day with the previous day. All tags that were active previously but not currently are candidates. All tags added at the same time as the candidate tags are potential names for the replacement tag.

Orig Name: Removed tag
New Name: List of added tags

The number in parentheses indicates how many post versions the removed tag has in common with the added tag

There are a lot more ambiguities with this one. Legitimate replacements are pretty straight forward, however depending on all the other tags changed by the tag gardener at the same time, there might be some noise in the New Name column that needs to be sorted through. Additionally, a tag removal instead of a replace might produce no legitimate new names, usually since it is an ambiguous tag that is no longer used. For these, a little detective work is necessary to determine the correct new name in the Pages to Update, or potentially removing those entries altogether.

Delete

These are detected when one a wiki page gets deleted

Orig Name: The deleted wiki page's name
New Name: Not used

There are some ambiguities with this one, but usually it means removing all instances of Orig Name. Additionally, there might be some posts still tagged with the old name that need to be cleaned up.

Final

The goal would be to eventually hand something over to get implemented with Reportbooru/DanbooruBot so that the above data and the cleanup would not dependent on one person. It currently only does a day of aliases/renames, but there may not be enough changes for that so it could be changed to a week.

Unlike with my other report (topic #13112), I plan to create a new forum post for each new set of data. If it's desired, I could also mark out the wikis that have already been handled.

When searching a certain category and then pressing on the picture , the next/previous buttons go to random pics instead of the category "gallery". Is there anyway to do it so it just follows the category gallery?

EventListener checks at regular intervals for new events of interest. It can check for flags, appeals, comments, notes, commentary, and post approvals using a post query string (see Help:Cheatsheet). It also allows subscriptions on posts to new comments, notes, commentaries or edits, new forums on topics, or wiki or pool changes. Besides all of those events, dmail, spam, user feedback, bans and mod actions (i.e. system events) can checked.

Post-type events can be auto-subscribed to for your own uploads

The subscription only occurs when visiting the post page for each upload

Post-type events can be subscribed to en masse using post query controls on the settings page

Other events

dmails, spam, bans, user feedbacks, mod actions
Will return all events with some exceptions
Bans can be filtered to remove autobans
Feedback can be filtered to remove autofeedback
Mod actions has 36 categories that can be subscribed to

Normally, closing the event notice will hide any other notices that are open in other pages. Clicking the LOCK link prevents that for that particular notice. Clicking the READ link will keep the notice from popping up in other new tabs without having to close the notice.

Settings for the script can be changed on the Danbooru account settings page (/settings). Go to Userscript Menus, and click to the EventListener tab. Turning off event types will cause the subscribe links for those types to no longer appear.

This is the translation request thread.

Rules

1.) The standard rules for any request on Danbooru applies, no one is obligated to respond to any requests or act upon them.

2.) Do not post more than one link at a time. If it is a pool, only post the first post of a pool and state how long the pool is. And how big each page is and how much text there is. This is work for you, but the more work you put into a request, the more likely it is to be picked up.

3.) When requesting, try to avoid to post works here that have yet to be approved or are relatively new, such as a week or two old, since it is likely that it was already seen by a translator and may be worked on later.

4.) Don't cause problems if your request isn't answered, that helps no one.

5.) Be sure to list if it is SFW or NSFW. Be aware that many translators do not like translation pornographic works since most are repetitive in content and boring to translate.

6.) List the copyright, such as touhou, pokemon, original. If you can, list the artist The more information you can give for a potential translator, the more likely they will respond to it.

7.) Do not attempt to translate something yourself if your grasp of either Japanese or English is not good, this creates more work for translators and this only hurts the chances of a work being translated.

8.) Again, do not just dump links. If you don't put the work into making the request, the translator won't bother to click the link. You can add multiple links if you put the required amount of detail into each one, but be aware of the law of diminishing returns.

9.) If a work is translated, edit your post and add which works were translated.

Sorry to bother you all, but I can't log in to my KChasm account. I don't know if my computer misremembered my password, but when I try to recover it by typing in my email, I'm told that email is invalid or doesn't exist.

Interestingly, the same happened when I tried to sign up as KChasm1 and included my email.

Is this on my end?
