And none of the three things you listed are the same as the mirror_opposites tag, so there's no reason they can't all exist.

Okay, give me any example of mirror_opposites that can't be substituted by one of existing tags.

black vs white is a subset of the mirror opposites tag with a specific motif if we most delete something it's that not mirror opposites.

However, I see no reason any of them need to be deleted and you haven't given an actual argument as to why they do need to.

I've been thinking that renaming mirror_opposites to "polar_opposites" would make the purpose of the tag a bit clearer in the naming.

Different_reflection is for covering a reflection that does not match up (ex: post #1439683, post #40973, post #471925)
Black_vs_White is a tag that was created to cover specifically light versus dark (ex: post #1155811, post #122100).

Mirror Opposites was intended as a broader idea of covering images that depicted two things that were opposites/opposition to each other, such as spring (life) versus winter (death), fire versus ice, light versus dark, nature versus technology/machinery, hot versus cold, blue versus red, etc. Ex: post #1373896, post #1141777, post #612943.

As far as my knowledge goes the mirror_opposites (created at least as early as August 2010) tag predates at least the different_reflection (February 2011) and pool #3209 (March 2011). Black vs White appears to have existed in another form as Black & White at least as early as 2008, and then was shifted to its current form in December 2012 when the older one was mass edited to the current form.

+1. Mirror_opposites doesn't really have anything to do with mirrors, so the current name isn't great.
