kill la kill SPOILER beware

Posted under Tags

thankfully, i watched the episode before diving in the posts section. does any post with satsuki and ryouko deserve the siblings tag? post #1615406 and post #1615290 both have and without the spoiler tag. my personal stand on this relationship tags is still the same last like the time they were raised. i still find them unnecessary. however there are people enjoying adding such tags (unknowingly) with dire consequence to others. do we clean this up?

Ditto. I make sure to avoid series before watching the latest episode.

In post #1615290 the context isn't obvious - it's just the main characters side by side. Nothing spoilerish about that. But in post #1615406, it's mentioned in the caption about
being with her younger sister in tune with the meme, so that caption spoils that fact. I don't think every post needs the siblings tag, especially since if it's added to every single post prior to the reveal, that alone would ruin it. The only posts that need it are if the context is obvious. We'll just have to wait and see what artists will draw to support the revelation in order to use the spoiler tag.

No, don't add the tag if the tag itself is a spoiler.
We have a similar case explained in about:spoilers, that when 2 characters are revealed to be one and the same, you would NOT tag dual_persona if both appear at the same time.

Dual Persona and Relationships. This is common plot device where a mysterious character is revealed to be the main character's family, companion or even the main character itself.
Dual Persona must be regarded as two separate characters at all times!

In this case it should be isolated to textual references, maybe visual if the visual is super specific. Someone's probably going to have to watch the tag combination for a while because I'm sure someone will insist on adding it to everything.

We already have one user (user #340727) retroactively adding the tag to posts as old as a month. I've already given him a record, but he shows no signs of stopping so a ban may be necessary.

I believe when the connection is a massive spoiler, we don't tag family connections at all, regardless of whether it is mentioned in the post. There's no need to senselessly spoil someone with the tags when it really isn't that important of a tag in the first place.

according to the offending user, he has agreed to stop and revert.

please double check.

PS: we need official word on the spoiler before any more tagging commences.

By doing that, you're just leaving the spoilers out in the open with no warning when someone translates the post.

I don't get what you mean...? The spoilers tag on its own would work much better in keeping someone from reading a translation that may potentially spoil them. If you have the family connection tag there then they will be spoiled by simply mousing over the thumbnail or looking at the list of tags.

Things look fine; I was monitoring the tags and reverted the edits as soon as they popped up.

Aside: post #1527863 isn't eligible for tag purge since it's Panty and Stocking. Let's not be too hasty nuking tags.

Yeah, took me a while to realize that. :P

Not if they blacklist spoilers. Which is a good idea if they want to avoid being spoiled.

Blacklisting the spoilers tag is not a very useful solution in my opinion, if you don't have any specific series you want to avoid being spoiled on. You end up missing any posts from series you don't care to be spoiled on or have already experienced, with no way to tell that fact unless you specifically browse the tag of that series.

Hmm, I think I see what you mean. I just go the route of blacklisting spoilers for series I'm currently reading/intend to read soon, but I guess not everyone wants to do that.

Could we please stop handing out double (neg) records within 15 minutes of each other for the same offense to users who most likely just wanted to contribute to the site!?

Problem is that what people are doing today is adding a spoiler to pictures that don't have spoilers depicted or tagged, and not adding the spoiler tag.

Moreover, the spoilers we're discussing here can't really be depicted under the "tag what you see" rule, when for example a character claiming to be a vampire while not doing anything stereotypically vampiric would not be tagged. Someone could look at the pictures, see no spoilers depicted or even in text, and remove the spoilers tag without noticing the tag that is itself a spoiler.

You mean one neg and one neutral. I'll take my record off since the offending user finally got the point, but whether z905844 wants to take his record off is his pejorative.

My intent to stop the offense and error has been achieved.

Retracting the Record.

Looks like the objective was to shock the user into not adding the spoilerish tags anymore lest the risk of spoiling the series existed for too long. That worked, but maybe we need to use some kind of fast-acting disciplinary system rather than instantly handing out negative records like this. If I got lots of mail from different users asking me to stop such behavior, I certainly would get the point.
