I did not even know that this tag exists.
But I would always use the specific background tag (argyle, striped, blue, honeycomb etc.)
And if it is only in one color, then you should use the simple background tag, too.

As for background as a banned tag: I'd support this. Background on its own has no significance.

You can still see the most-used tags of all time on the Tags page. Set the category, order by "Count," and leave the name field blank.

Tags that have been used a lot recently show up on the side of the front page. I'm not sure what the algorithm for that is

Perhaps it should not have been bumped. I followed the link from another thread and actually thought this thread was stickied too. I just wanted to use the tag cloud, I guess it just doesn't exist at this time.

Ok, bringging this back up.
I've noticed that people don't lurk enough before adding tags, and create new ones to describe something that already have a tag asigned.
There's one guy that keeps adding very_large_breasts instead of huge breasts, even when it has been corrected a couple of times.
The same goes for people who wants to describe the pic with tags like cum_on_the_left_foot_toes (it's just an example but I think you get the point).
And sometimes, when they see that some tag has been deleted or changed for a correct or existing one, they delete it and add their own shitty tag again.

So, here are some tips.
when you upload or update an image, if in the tags you added some appears with a counter of "1" try to:

Check if you wrote it right (finger error).
Check if you wrote names or copyrights following the rule of Last-name_first-name or using the "accorded" version of the copyrigth (japanese or english).
Check if there is no existing tag that already describes what you are trying to.
Think for a while if the tag you are creating is really worth it. This means that the tag is relevant, intuitive, and common (you have already identified more pics that could use the same tag).
If you are not sure of what you are doing, don't add the tag and look in the forum for opinions.

Remember:

Tagme DOES NOT MEAN "DO THAT JOB FOR ME", read the wiki.
You don't need to tag everything in the pic, especially some irrelevant frase or text.

Finally:
If anybody wants to add or remove anything of what I wrote, feel free to do so.
If anybody thinks that I missunderstod something, please let me know.

Leotard would make sense, they do look like they're dressed for some kind of athletic event. The outfit also reminds me of Battle Athletes, such as post #193959. I've never watched either series though.

I think not, it doesn't look anything like a pilot suit. At best I'd use swimsuit_under_clothes. Use takaya_noriko_(cosplay) if it's cosplay.
