This will probs require some power tagging if we want to get this tag comprehensive, but the idea is to tag the hair flaps on characters like shigure_(Kantai_collection) and yuudachi_(Kantai_collection) along with other various characters that may have such a feature.

I've tagged a few posts with this tag just to put a little foothold if it will be used, but its still small enough it should be easy to remove should we not implement it.

In general I think that style of hair is intended to mimic animal ears without giving the character real animal ears, so instead of calling them "tufted hair" I'd suggest something like "hair ears" (or "hair flaps") for the name.

hair_flaps sounds good, we could implicate if we really wanted to I guess.

I remember reading on the discussion about hair_intakes (topic #8841), and I guess that hair_flaps might work?

Am I correct in assuming that this also applies for musashi_(kantai_collection) and toyosatomimi_no_miko?

I think we'd need a new tag for animal ear shaped hairstyles, the main goal with hair_flaps was to find a tag for those side flaps.

I'd say it'd be fine to tag those hairstyles that may not necessarily be like the two side flaps as long as it still looks like animal ears. Once we have a more comprehensive tag regarding those styles we can go back through and clean up.

Also how would this apply to a character like amatsukaze_(kantai_collection)? Her hairstyle is obviously mimicking cat ears, but I dunno, seems mildly gray with mildly leaning towards yes (tag it with hair_ears).

There seem to be quite a few posts in this new hair_flaps tag that aren't particularly reminiscent of animal ears (e.g. post #1784138, post #1779508). Maybe some refinements on the definition and usage of hair_flaps and hair_ears are in order before they're populated further. For example, do things like ahoge from the side of the head count as hair_flaps? What about Ranka_Lee's hairstyle?

Why jump the gun and waste time and effort? Better to discuss and settle things first and then tag consistently.

Hmm, I think hair_flaps can be generalized to obvious flaps that come from the side of the hair and not necessarily animal-esque. However when it comes to hair_ears it should be more definitive as to a specific animal ear shape, so thin hair flaps like the ones you listed might not count as ear hair.

Ahoge on the side is more of a side_ahoge to me (surprised we didn't have a tag for such, started the tag), as with Ranka and Tokitsukaze's hairstyles, I'm leaning toward hair ears but I think it'd be good to get some more input regarding those.

Similar to amatsukaze_(kantai_collection), does this apply to some of the ranka_lee pictures where her hair looks like dog ears? hair_flaps or hair_ears?

In Amatsukaze's case, I think the two_sides_up pretty much covers it all. For Musashi and Miko, what about standing_hair, stiffed_hair or hair_horns?

OK, so I think hair_flaps is specifically for hairstyles like yuudachi_(Kantai_collection), while hair_ears specifically is for hairstyles that mimic animal ears.

Ranka and Toki would fall under hair_ears but not hair_flaps.

I'm still tempted to tag Amatsukaze with hair ears (still keeping two_side_up) because the definitive point at the top of her twintails is quite distinctive to a cat's ears.

Musashi and Miko would both be hair ears qualified as they are also represented as animal ears in fan art at times and do look like animal ears to me.
