[bulk] Tag Alias: *cum* -> *semen*

Posted under Tags

First of all, I know that cum -> semen has been brought up before. I'm bringing it up again because now that we have bulk aliases, it's feasible to do it without too much work. As far as I can tell, it being too much work is half the reason it was never done.

A couple notes:

Prior discussion: topic #2752 and topic #2559.

Is there an actual benefit to renaming cum to semen? As far as I'm aware they mean the same thing, so there's no reason to prefer one over the other.

In my opinion, "semen" sounds more sophisticated than "cum," which would be appropriate for Danbooru. It's definitely one of the most sophisticated imageboards/sites I've ever frequented!

I can't tell if that's a joke post. It's easier to tag cum, and next we'll change the ass tag to butt or something.

When you say it like that, it makes me reconsider my last post...

EDIT: Had some time to think my last post. "Ass" seems more appropriate on Danbooru, yet "semen" is less vulgar, which is also more appropriate for the site. After all, the term "paizuri" is generally preferred over "titfuck," isn't it?

I'm not sure if I'm making much sense right now...

Updated

We avoid crude slang terms for every other tag whenever possible. The only exceptions left are cum and pussy, and pussy is difficult to change because it can refer to the vulva or the vagina.

As for benefits, semen is a less ambiguous term. People tag cum in pussy (or whatever) but forget to tag ejaculation too. Calling it semen in pussy makes the omission more obvious.

But mainly it just sounds less sleazy. The word cum is just... ugh.

We use butt crack instead of ass crack and the world hasn't exploded yet.

The ejaculation term gets ignored a lot because it should be used to tag the action as it occurs in process. You wouldn't tag ejaculation on a post depicting aftersex, with the deed already having been done.

I dislike that tag.

From what I've seen people frequently forget to tag ejaculation whether or not cum_in_pussy is present. I don't think renaming cum_in_pussy to semen_in_pussy will help anyone to remember to tag ejaculation.

It's a matter of preference. Personally I prefer cum over semen.

It's the same preference we use for all other tags. It's the same as the logic for using breasts and penis instead of tits or cock.

If we really use that preference for "all other tags", why do we have pussy_juice instead of vaginal_lubrication, ass instead of butt, sex instead of sexual_intercourse, and more?

pussy_juice -> vaginal_lubrication: Because no one's brought it up yet? I would definitely support it.

ass -> butt did have some support in topic #3596. It's not nearly as vulgar as cum though.

sex -> sexual_intercourse: Because sex isn't a dirty word. sex -> fucking would be a more apt comparison, and we don't have that because fucking is too vulgar. I would support sex -> sexual_intercourse to get people to stop mistagging oral as sex.

Usually we only use slang words when they're not that vulgar and we have no better alternative. Things like handjob, footjob, fingering, sideboob, etc. For everything else we usually go out of our way to use proper terms, even when the proper term is awkward or less common. We have:

ass and pussy are the exceptions to the rule. Their existence is not evidence for favoring cum over semen.

You know, I don't think I've ever heard anyone use the term "vaginal lubrication" when talking about "pussy juice" -- I believe you confuse it with the term, "vaginal_fluids". Then again vaginal fluids could be misconstrued as menstruation ect...

That said, what is the etymology for ass? butt might be derived from buttocks, but where does the word as come from? personally I prefer the word ass since butt sounds to much like buttocks and bottom.

Sex, I must disagree with this one as well, you are making things unnecessary complicated. And while we are at it, fellatio should be implicated to sex.

Now as for "semen", have you ever heard anyone exclaim: "I'm inseminating!!!"?

Why is a vulgar tag bad? These tags are being used for porn. The content itself is vulgar so there's no reason to pretend it's any more sophisticated than it really is.

Wikipedia uses vaginal lubrication

Just because Wikipedia uses that term doesn't mean that we have to.

And there are always aliases. Are they the reason why when one types in "trap," it comes out as "otoko_no_ko?"

Please read the wiki page which you clearly linked. It describes that trap has a negative connotation that otoko no ko doesn't have.

Not like that.

Anyways, I kind of like the vulgar terms, or at least used to them. We're not exactly a sophisticated site and porn isn't really sophisticated in most cases so I like them as they are.

I see no tangible advantage in these aliases for the reasons already stated.

-double facepalms- Ugh, sorry... My mistake.

The trap alias was HIGHLY controversial and shouldn't be used as evidence in suggesting any other alias.
