Link to request

As far as I know, the last discussion on this topic was four years ago, and it didn't seem like there was a consensus.

There seems to be some inconsistency with the titles for the Touhou Project tags. Most works use the subtitles while a select few use the main title, which seems inconsistent with how danbooru usually handles these (like Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica). There seem to be a few copyright tags which uses the subtitles, but these were for copyrights in which the English subtitle is a translation of the original title, which isn't the same with the Touhou Project works.

Additionaly, I'd like to request a alias of "touhou" to "touhou_project", as this is the series' full, proper name.

And last, the music cd's should inplicate "zun's_music_collection", as this is the title of the cd series. I'm not sure if I should add the implication to the new proposed names or the old ones, so I left it out for now.

Games that currently use the Japanese title are those which do not have an official English title. (hisoutensoku, yousei_daisensou)
And Double Spoiler (written in katakana), which shares the same Japanese title with Shoot the Bullet (Bunkachou)

I'm not opposed to using the Japanese names, though.

Tag aliases and implications don't exist to create a beautiful hierarchy of data and relationships. They exist to make search easier.

What I'm trying to say is, I don't recognise 90% of the japanese names when looking at them, unlike the english ones, and while they are aliases, it'd mean I have to check the wiki when it's tagged on a post and I'm unsure why - which is, of course, a minor annoyance at most. Still, I feel like there's no practical gain from switching to japanese names, and so I oppose the idea.

Why want to change it anyway? What's the gain?

I wanted to say consistensy with how the games are supposed to be reffered to, but as Borrator mentioned before me that argument seems to be a bit weak. In fact, I'm a bit of an idiot for not reading that particular topic before submitting the request, so sorry about that. Anyway, I suppose it is a bit similair to using the English pokemon names in the Pokemon series, instead of the Japanese.

My personal preference in refering to the games is using it's Japanese title, though I admit that I do use the English abbrevations because otherwise people would't understand it. People are just used to the English subtitles.

The only tags where I'd say there is gain is in the manga series "Touhou Bougetsushou" and "Touhou Sangetsusei". The subtitles change, but are essentially the same series.

Either way, the Japanese titles don't seem to alias the tags, so I propose most of these the other way around: title -> current subtitle (where appropiate).

Updated

I see no advantage in this huge mess personally. It's also gonna make autocomplete a horrible mess as you type touhou_ and it gives you 30 random things you can't tell apart unless you've memorized all the titles.

I would at least +1 touhou -> touhou_project alias, considering it's the series's full name and every series tag I've seen so far is the full name, except Touhou for some reason. No real harm in aliasing it considering searching for "touhou" would still return the results anyway.
