Since KanColle's Admiral is supposed to represent the player (regardless of the latter's gender), wouldn't it make more sense to use "male_admiral_(kantai_collection)" in addition to the already existing "female_admiral_(kantai_collection)"?

This way all the "admiral" tags could be implicated to the more generic "admiral_(kantai_collection)".

Isn't this like male pubic hair:
Female pubic hair is apparantly far more common than male pubic hair. And because it is a special case, there are two seperate tags for it.

There's also a utility perspective.
Is there an occasion where someone (with a limit on the number of tags they can search) might want to search for any admiral, whether male or female? In the same way as one might want to search for any kind of animal ears, whether cat, fox or bunny?

In the case of the admiral, I don't think this is likely. And even if it is, the tag '1boy' will probably cover it (if posts are properly tagged and one doesn't mind coming across a few genderswaps.)

This is just the main justification for umbrella tags in cases where they exist.
