Tag implication: kogal -> gyaru

Posted under Tags

Hi! I couldn't make a proper tag implication request because of the current relationship between gyaru and kogal tags and gyaru not having a wiki article. I think kogal should imply gyaru and not the other way around.

Kogal is a substyle of broader gyaru (or gal) fashion involving schoolgirls, and not all gyaru are kogals. I would even say that most real life gyaru are not kogals. So therefore although all kogals are gyaru, not all gyaru are kogals.

Many submissions currently tagged under "kogal" feature subjects that are not school aged and aren't wearing a kogal type of fashion (typically featuring gyaru-ified school uniforms, etc). Some examples are post #2588619, post #2570643, and basically all of the posts involving Plumeria. These subjects, at least in my opinion, should be tagged only with gyaru or gal, not with kogal.

I've had a lot of years of experience with wearing and tracking gyaru fashion, so I hope this request is accepted! Thanks.

Ah, the way you would do that would be to make a BUR that would say:

unalias gyaru -> kogal
imply kogal -> gyaru

In addition to, well, ignoring wiki requirements since kogal never had a wiki page to begin with.

I don't have much knowledge of gal fashion but this could be an interesting discussion, thanks for bringing it to the table. Should I make that BUR for you? Or maybe someone else chime in first?

I would love if you could do it for me! I'm not too great with this kind of thing haha. But if you want to wait for others to chime in that's good with me too.

remove alias gyaru -> kogal

Link to request

It first has to be unaliased before the request for an implication is possible.

Thank you! I wasn't really sure about what to do. Should I make a new forum thread now that the request is created or is this one fine?

First, this request has to be approved by the admins.
If it gets approved, then the implication request is possible and should be done in this topic.

Alias is removed; do some gardening and discuss more if needed.

Thanks! I'm currently going through and re-tagging all non-kogal posts under the kogal post with gyaru (or just removing the kogal tag if they were mistagged). I'll also write up wiki pages on gyaru and kogal, delineating the differences and explaining what each style entails, in hopes of making sure that more gyaru material is tagged properly. I'll make a request for kogal implying gyaru when I'm done!

Sounds great. Thanks for your work :)

It's no problem! I'm happy to help.

I've made a new wiki page for gyaru and cleaned up the kogal wiki page. I've also organized the tags and re-tagged a good portion of the kogal tag, so a decent gyaru tag has been built up. I feel like there are enough posts there now to request a kogal → gyaru implication, but I don't know how to do that without creating a brand new thread. Does anyone know how? Sorry for not being great at this sort of thing haha.

Go here

Click 'new' at the top, put in 'imply kogal -> gyaru' in the script field, then put in 13604 (this topic) as the forum topic.

No problem. Also made another mistake there, meant to write imply... but you did it correctly, thankfully.

I figured you meant imply, glad I guessed right.
