[APPROVED] Tag alias: neck_bow -> bowtie

Posted under Tags

+1, because otherwise what constitutes a bowtie or a neck bow will be a mostly subjective call, and that'll make it harder to tag for everyone. It's what I always tag when I come across such instances.

My personal preference would be to have the alias in the other direction. For our purposes that would make much more sense to me and conveys an intuitive meaning. In the West also bowties are widely worn by men. I think there's a difference between how we are using the word and the colloquial understanding of it.

Edit: This request has brought it to my attention that I've been tagging with neck_bow without even realizing, just because it looks right to me. I think either way an alias is needed here.

I've never used this tag, but I suspect it may have been intended as a way to differentiate between more traditional bowties (post #2665876) and the broad-tailed ones most commonly seen with school uniforms (post #2528703). I'm not sure the two styles are worth trying to keep separate at this point; bowtie stands at nearly fifty thousand posts and isn't going anywhere. But I can understand the rationale behind this tag, as in the past I've felt hesitant about tagging some of the bigger, flashier bows as bowties.
