Replacing "Bowsette" with less erroneous nomenclature

Posted under General

I'll keep it simple:

The Super Crown makes Toadette look like Peach. Thus: Peachette.
The Super Crown does not make Bowser look like Toadette. It makes him look like Peach. Thus: Peachser

Obviously since "Bowsette" is (incorrectly) the more common name for the fusion it makes sense to have it aliased, but it would be incorrect to have it as the default tag.

Princess Bowser would also be a more appropriate name.

If the character has no official name, why even try to enforce one? "-ette" is a common suffix for genderswaps coming from western fandoms, so imo it's fine to just leave it that way.

Plus both "Peachser" and "Peacher" sound pretty ridiculous to be honest. Bowsette drives immediately to the point that it's bowser but female, and it's simple enough that anyone can remember it when tagging. No need to think too much about something like this or to be pedantic.

As long as we're in the realm of made-up fan nicknames, any discussion about correctness is moot; they're all equally (in)valid in my book. Without any officially endorsed name for the Bowser genderswap, and with no reason to believe that there will ever be one, it only makes sense that we use the one that is the most widely recognized. Given that "Bowsette" seems to already be established as the most popular name for this character, I see no good reason for changing this.

That said, I'm not even sure we need a tag for this character, as bowser + super_crown probably covers it just as well.

+1 for leaving it as super_crown + bowser.

Wouldn't there come a day when someone has the idea of drawing bowsette without the super crown?

Edit: Also, the possibility of a drawing with bowser and peachette.

I'm in agreement with nonamethanks on the name being Bowsette (I wasn't too hot on it at first, preferring Princess Bowser, but it's grown on me).

Also agree with Vezral over the tagging, with the combination of characters and who it's actually applied to possibly muddying things. There's already a Peachette tag, so why should this be treated differently? While I was mulling over posting in this thread, there was already a post (post #3263162) where the super crown isn't involved, just a normal crown with no eyes or mushroom top in the center.

Not all pics have a visible Super Crown, already. And it's a bit too specific a design to just slap the the genderswap tag on. So I think we need a char tag.

Princess Koopa or Princess Bowser, I've also seen Queen Bowser, any should work. Or leave it as Bowsette, that's fine too.

Outside of Danbooru, I haven't heard the name Bowsette being used. Instead Princess Bowser and Princess Koopa have been thrown around.

For now, bowser + super crown or bowser + genderswap work fine.

Bowsette works perfectly, and is intuitive.

But should we decide to change the name, I think either princess bowser or princess koopa is more accurate due to the aspect of royal aesthetic provided by the super crown.

Mmmm yes nice to see that people are still trying to ruin tagging by making things as complicated as possible

No a two-tag search is not a replacement for a character tag. It is not now and it has not been in the decade+ history of this site.

Bowsette is more than adequate, the character does not and will not have an official name, and right now the two it does have are "Bowsette" (from English fandom) and "Koopa-hime" (from JP fandom). Either one of those is fine, with the appropriate aliases.

And yes, "Peachser/Peacher" is terrible.

I've seen far more usage of Bowsette than I have the other names. Also for the same reasons as nonamethanks
stated the name Bowsette is fine.

Now for another question: Should Bowser be tagged together with Bowsette? Aren't named genderswaps tagged separately from the original form like kyonko for example?

No, he shouldn't. Bowser should only be tagged on "Bowsette" images when the canon Bowser also appears.

Well people are adding the tag to pretty much all of her posts so someone will probably have to garden and keep track of them.

I went ahead and removed the tag where vanilla Bowser doesn't appear.

Perhaps the wiki should be updated too?

Would probably not hurt to drop a note about it in there, how much people will read it is another matter.
