It's like trying to describe what a <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/waitress">waitress</a> looks like; their appearances vary so much that any attempt to neatly define them without having to make exceptions is doomed to fail. You have to <a rel="external nofollow noreferrer" class="dtext-link dtext-external-link dtext-named-external-link" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_know_it_when_I_see_it">know them when you see them</a>.</p><p>I took an axe to that tag a few days ago and dealt with a few hundred of the worst examples of mistagging. The bulk of the problematic posts were canon goddesses from various copyrights (Neptune, Oh! My Goddess, The World God Only Knows, and UFO Princess Valkyrie were all big offenders) wearing casual outfits and looking very un-goddess-like. We could clamp down a bit tighter on the tag and limit it to images with overt divine symbolism like <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2108111">post #2108111</a> or <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2333699">post #2333699</a> or <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/2977371">post #2977371</a>, but if people are using this tag to search for random images of tunic-clad Palutena or Belldandy with outstretched wings, I don't see any harm in that either. This tag isn't inherently any more problematic than, say, <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/amazon">amazon</a> or <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/elf">elf</a>.</p> iridescent_slime /users/438068 tag:danbooru.me,2005:ForumPost/160619 2019-10-28T12:58:13-04:00 2019-10-28T12:58:13-04:00 @ion288: > Unbreakable said: > > The goddess tag is... <blockquote> <p>Unbreakable said:</p> <p>The <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/goddess">goddess</a> tag is mostly being tagged on any post containing a character who is canonically a goddess which is the opposite of what the wiki says the tag is for. <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-user-id-link" href="/users/369152">user #369152</a> for example seems to be adding it to all <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-4" href="/wiki_pages/ishtar_%28fate%2Fgrand_order%29">Ishtar (Fate/Grand Order)</a> and <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-4" href="/wiki_pages/ereshkigal_%28fate%2Fgrand_order%29">Ereshkigal (Fate/Grand Order)</a> posts.</p> </blockquote><p>I tried to clean this a year ago. Someone on <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-forum-post-id-link" href="/forum_posts/144074">forum #144074</a> mentioned how the *koma tags have been commonly used for non-vertical images.</p><p>Admittedly, I have also used *koma tags for non-vertical images in the past (as seen in the history of <a class="dtext-link dtext-id-link dtext-post-id-link" href="/posts/1034993">post #1034993</a> for instance).</p><p>Of all the *koma tags, only the wikis of <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/2koma">2koma</a> and <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/4koma">4koma</a> currently say the comics must be vertical.</p><p>Maybe <a class="dtext-link dtext-post-search-link" href="/posts?tags=%2Akoma">*koma</a> (wildcard search) could replace <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/vertical_comic" title="This wiki page does not exist">vertical comic</a>, except I removed a bunch of non-vertical comics tagged *koma which were not helping. Also <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/1koma" title="This wiki page does not exist">1koma</a> doesn't help either (because that tag is just 1 panel per page). Other than that, I find <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/horizontal_comic" title="This wiki page does not exist">horizontal comic</a> definitely an interesting format. It seems rarer on Danbooru than I initially predicted. (But it seems common on Western newspaper strips.)</p><p>I'd like to clean up the *koma tags by removing the non-vertical images. This is assuming we want *koma tags for vertical images in the first place. I've been removing *koma tags from some of these images and adding *panels in their place. In case you want to do anything different, it should be easy to further edit those tags.</p><p>If I had just removed *koma without adding *panels and other tags, we would lose information that would make it difficult to further edit them. For instance, <a href="/users?name=skylightcrystal">@skylightcrystal</a> above said that <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist dtext-tag-empty" href="/wiki_pages/square_comic" title="This wiki page does not have a tag">square comic</a> is a distinctive kind of 4koma. I've been consistently removing the <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/4koma">4koma</a> tag from <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist dtext-tag-empty" href="/wiki_pages/square_comic" title="This wiki page does not have a tag">square comics</a> because they aren't vertical. But if square comic tags need the <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/4koma">4koma</a> for some reason (as a new rule we didn't discuss before), it can be readded (or implied).</p><p>Some people have been using *koma for some non-vertical images, that is *koma tags have been used for certain comics regardless of layout. This seems to be some evidence that tags for a number of panels regardless of layout is wanted to some extent. But we also seem to want tags for vertical comics, which seems the main use of *koma tags. (other than 1koma, which can't be vertical)</p><p>If *koma tags are supposed to be always vertical, maybe <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/1koma" title="This wiki page does not exist">1koma</a> could be renamed to <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/1panel" title="This wiki page does not exist">1panel</a>.</p><p>Current wikis for *koma tags:</p><ul> <li> <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link dtext-wiki-does-not-exist tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/1koma" title="This wiki page does not exist">1koma</a> = no wiki (but the concept of "vertical" doesn't apply here)</li> <li> <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/2koma">2koma</a> = "A comic consisting of 2 vertical panels per page."</li> <li> <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/3koma">3koma</a> = "A comic with only three panels."</li> <li> <a class="dtext-link dtext-wiki-link tag-type-0" href="/wiki_pages/4koma">4koma</a> = "A Japanese four panel vertical comic strip.
